سورة الأنفال
72. Verily, those who believed, and emigrated and strove hard and fought with their property and their lives in the Cause of Allâh as well as those who gave (them) asylum and help, - these are (all) allies to one another. And as to those who believed but did not emigrate (to you O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), you owe no duty of protection to them until they emigrate[7]; but if they seek your help in religion, it is your duty to help them except against a people with whom you have a treaty of mutual alliance; and Allâh is the All-Seer of what you do.
54. Similar to the behaviour of the people of Fir‘aun (Pharaoh), and those before them. They belied the Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord, so We destroyed them for their sins, and We drowned the people of Fir‘aun (Pharaoh) for they were all Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers).

7. And He it is Who has created the heavens and the earth in six Days and His Throne was on the water, that He might try you, which of you is the best in deeds. But if you were to say to them: "You shall indeed be raised up after death," those who disbelieve would be sure to say, "This is nothing but obvious magic.[1]"

Abu Hurayrah(may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A previously married woman should not be married until her verbal consent has been sought, and a virgin should not be married until her permission has been sought." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is her permission?" He said: "When she remains silent."'
Narrated by Bukhari & Muslim
Marriage is a serious contract whereby husband gains lawful access to what women guard most: private parts. By virtue of this contract, a woman becomes like a captive with her husband. Thus, the All-Wise, the Merciful, the Fair Legislator (Allah) gave her the right to choose her life partner, since she is the one who would live with him, and she is more aware of her inclinations and desires. Therefore, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade marrying a previously married woman (divorced or widow) until her command is sought and she gives it. He also forbade marrying off a virgin until her permission is sought and she gives it. Since a virgin is most likely shy regarding such matters, it is sufficient to get her permission which is lighter than her command. It is also sufficient that she remains silent to indicate her consent.
Abu Sa‘īd al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) went out to the praying area on the day of Ad'ha or the day of Fitr. He passed by the women and, thus, said: "O womenfolk, give charity, for indeed, I was shown that you form the majority of the dwellers of Hellfire." They said: Why is that, O Messenger of Allah? He said: "You curse frequently, and you are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone deficient in intellect and religion more able to lead and subdue the mind of a stern man than one of you." They said: O Messenger of Allah, what is the deficiency in our religion and intellect? He said: "Is not the woman's testimony equivalent to half of the man's testimony?" They said: Yes. He said: "That is the deficiency in her intellect. Is it not true that she neither prays nor fasts when menstruating?" They said: Yes. He said: "That is the deficiency in her religion."
Narrated by Bukhari & Muslim
The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) went out to the praying area on the day of Eid. He had promised to give women a special sermon and he fulfilled his promise on that day. He said: O womenfolk, give charity and seek Allah's forgiveness frequently, as both are among the greatest means of erasing sins, for indeed, I saw you on the Night of Isrā’ forming the majority of the inhabitants of Hellfire. Then a woman among them, who was wise, perceptive, and dignified, said: O Messenger of Allah, why do we form the majority of the inhabitants of Hellfire? He said: For some reasons: you frequently curse and use abusive language, and you deny your husbands' rights. Then he (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) described them, saying: I have not seen anyone with a deficiency in intellect and religion who is more dominant over a person of wisdom, intellect, resolve, and self-control than you. She said: O Messenger of Allah, what is the deficiency in intellect and religion? He said: As for the deficiency of intellect, it is the fact that the testimony of two women is equivalent to the testimony of one man; this is what is meant by a deficiency in intellect. The deficiency in religion is the decrease in good deeds, for a woman spends nights and days not praying due to menstruation and fasts fewer days in Ramadan due to menstruation; this is what is meant by a deficiency in religion. However, they are not to be blamed or held accountable for that because it is part of their natural disposition, just as humans are created with an innate love for wealth, haste in their matters, ignorance, and other such traits. However, this is mentioned as a warning against being infatuated with them.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tasbīh is for the men, and clapping is for the women."
Narrated by Bukhari & Muslim
The Hadīth shows how a Muslim can draw the attention of others while s/he is in prayer, as mentioned in another version narrated by Muslim. If a Muslim is performing prayer, and something occurs and requires him to bring it to the attention of another person, such as notifying the Imām of a fault in the prayer, or seeing a blind person falling in a well, or someone seeking permission to enter, or the praying person wants to notify someone else of a particular matter - in all of these cases and similar situations, the man should make Tasbīh to make others understand what he wants to draw attention to. The woman, however, should clap if something occurred during her prayer and she wants to draw the attention to it by hitting one hand with the other in any way. This is to make sure that the prayer does not involve any irrelevant words, because prayer is the place where one is communicating with Allah, Glorified and Exalted. Therefore, Allah permitted using words pertaining to the type of the sayings said in prayer, i.e. Tasbīh, when there is a need for one to talk during in it.
‘Āmir ibn ‘Abdullāh ibn Az-Zubayr reported from his father that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Announce marriages."
Narrated by Ahmad
This Hadīth encourages announcing and publicizing marriages as well as communicating information regarding them to the people as a means of showing joy and in order to make them different from secret marriages. Customs and traditions regulate the ways to announce marriages. The means of announcing marriages include wedding banquets, having witnesses, accompanying and celebrating the husband when he leaves with the bride, beating the duff (big tambourine), blowing the horns of cars, and so on.
‘Ā’ishah, Mother of the Believers, (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any woman who marries without the permission of her guardians, her marriage is void—three times—and if he consummated the marriage with her, she would be entitled to the dowry in return for his copulation with her. If a dispute arises between them, the ruler shall be the guardian of whoever has no guardian."
Narrated by Abu Daoud & At-Termedhy Ibn Majah & Ahmad
The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) warned that a woman should not give herself in marriage without her guardians' permission and that her marriage would be void, repeating this three times, as if it did not exist. If the one who married her without her guardian's permission consummated the marriage with her, then the whole dowry would be hers on account of having sexual intercourse with her. If the guardians dispute over the guardianship of the marriage contract—and their ranks are equal in this regard—the contract goes to whoever among them initiates it first, provided it is done with her best interest in mind. If the guardian refuses to marry her off, it is as if she has no guardian; in this case, the ruler or his delegate, such as the judge and the like, becomes her guardian. Otherwise, the ruler has no guardianship if a legitimate guardian is present.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: “No woman should perform the marriage of another woman, and no woman should perform her own marriage. It is an adulteress who performs her own marriage.”
Narrated by Ibn Majah
This Hadīth proves that a woman does not have the authority to perform her own marriage, let alone someone else's marriage. Any marriage performed by a woman is void. As for the sentence: "It is an adulteress who performs her own marriage", these are Abu Hurayrah’s words. By this he meant that only adulteresses perform their own marriages, so a chaste woman must not marry without a guardian.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Cursed is the one who has anal intercourse with his wife."
Narrated by Abu Daoud & Ahmad & An-Nasa'i in Major Sunan
The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) warns that the husband who has anal intercourse with his wife is cursed and expelled from Allah's mercy and that this is from the major sins.
Mu‘āwiyah al-Qushayri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I said: O Messenger of Allah, what is the right of the wife of any of us over him? He said: "To feed her when you eat, clothe her when you clothe yourself, or when you earn money, do not strike on the face, do not revile, and do not forsake except inside the house."
Narrated by Abu Daoud & Ibn Majah & Ahmad
The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the wife's right over her husband, so he mentioned several things including the following: First: Do not favor yourself with food over her; rather, you should feed her whenever you eat. Second: Do not favor yourself with clothing; rather, clothe her when you clothe yourself and when you earn money and have the ability. Third: A wife should not be beaten except for a valid reason and necessity, and if there is a need to discipline her, such as neglecting some of her obligations, the striking must be light and not harmful. Furthermore, the face must never be struck, as it is the most honored and prominent part of the body, containing delicate and noble features. Fourth: Do not insult or say: "May Allah disgrace your face," or attribute it or anything of her body to ugliness, which is the opposite of beauty. This is because Allah Almighty is the One Who shaped the human face and body, and He has perfected everything He created. Criticizing the creation indirectly leads to criticizing the Creator, and we seek refuge in Allah from such an act. Fifth: Do not abandon her except in the bed, and do not physically leave her or move her to another house. This applies to typical instances of abandonment that may occur between spouses.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If a man invites his wife to his bed and she refuses, and so he spends the night angry with her, the angels will curse her until the morning."
Narrated by Bukhari & Muslim
This Hadīth indicates that a woman should answer her husband's request of having sexual intercourse with her, or else she exposes herself to the angels' curse. This is restricted, however, by the husband's anger, as in Al-Bukhāri's narration. If he does not object to her refusal, there is no problem. This also applies if the wife has a legitimate excuse, such as being too sick to have sex or having another excuse that prevents her from coming to the husband's bed. Other than that, she has to respond to him. On the other side, the husband has to fulfill the sexual needs of his wife, if he notices that she wants to have sexual intercourse or asks him to do so. Allah says: {And live with them in kindness.} [Sūrat An-Nisā': 19]
‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the woman who fixes hair extensions (to another) and the woman who has them fixed for her, and the woman who does tattoos and the woman who has them done for her.
Narrated by Bukhari & Muslim
This Hadīth proves that fixing hair extensions is prohibited for women, as well as making tattoos for the sake of beauty and adornment. These acts are major sins for the following reasons: 1. Adding hair extensions involves cheating and imitation of the Jews, who were the first to add hair extensions. 2. Making tattoos constitutes change of the creation of Allah, the Almighty. Hence, both the one who does such acts and the one who has them done for her are cursed.
If someone intends to do a good deed but was prevented by a valid excuse, he shall gain the reward of his intention.
Riyadh Al-Salheen with explanation and benefits
Variation of reward for good deeds is based on sincerity and following of the Prophet’s guidance. The more a person is sincere to Allah, and the keener he is on following the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him), the more perfect his worship will be, and consequently his reward will be bigger.
Riyadh Al-Salheen with explanation and benefits
People differ with regards to their acts of worship according to their intentions. The intentions of some people have reached the ultimate level of sincerity (to Allah) and keenness in following the Sunnah (of the Messenger of Allah) with regard to doing good and righteous deeds, while the intentions of others are below that.

Actions are recompensed according to the intentions behind them, and the individual shall receive the reward of what he intended even if the outcome was contrary to his intention.
Riyadh Al-Salheen with explanation and benefits
There is not a single good deed intended sincerely to please Allah except that its doer will be raised in rank and status thereby, so that he would reap the full reward.
Riyadh Al-Salheen with explanation and benefits
Love and contentment is measured by good deeds and intentions because they are the criteria for Allah’s acceptance of the servant; perhaps a small deed reaps great reward because of the intention behind it and perhaps a big deed reaps little reward because of the intention behind it
Riyadh Al-Salheen with explanation and benefits
One of the proofs Allah supports the servant is the latter’s sincere endeavor to rectify his intention and purify his heart by good deeds.
