﴿ قُلۡ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ إِنۡ عَصَيۡتُ رَبِّي عَذَابَ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٖ ﴾
سورة الأنعام
15. Say: "I fear, if I disobey my Lord, the torment of a Mighty Day."
﴿ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مُنفَطِرُۢ بِهِۦۚ كَانَ وَعۡدُهُۥ مَفۡعُولًا ﴾
سورة المزمل
The heaven will break apart therefrom;[1784] ever is His promise fulfilled.
﴿ قُلۡ أَتُعَلِّمُونَ ٱللَّهَ بِدِينِكُمۡ وَٱللَّهُ يَعۡلَمُ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيۡءٍ عَلِيمٞ ﴾
سورة الحجرات
Say, "Would you acquaint Allāh with your religion while Allāh knows whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, and Allāh is Knowing of all things?"
﴿ بَلۡ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا وَجَدۡنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٖ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم مُّهۡتَدُونَ ﴾
سورة الزخرف
They rather say, “We found our forefathers on a path, and we are seeking guidance in their footsteps.”
﴿ وَمَا نَتَنَزَّلُ إِلَّا بِأَمۡرِ رَبِّكَۖ لَهُۥ مَا بَيۡنَ أَيۡدِينَا وَمَا خَلۡفَنَا وَمَا بَيۡنَ ذَٰلِكَۚ وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ نَسِيّٗا ﴾
سورة مريم
[Gabriel said][18], “We do not descend except with the command of your Lord. To Him belongs all that is before us, all that is behind us, and all that is in between. Your Lord is never forgetful.
﴿ وَمِن ثَمَرَٰتِ ٱلنَّخِيلِ وَٱلۡأَعۡنَٰبِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِنۡهُ سَكَرٗا وَرِزۡقًا حَسَنًاۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗ لِّقَوۡمٖ يَعۡقِلُونَ ﴾
سورة النحل
67. And from the fruits of date-palms and grapes, you derive strong drink and a goodly provision. Verily, therein is indeed a sign for people who have wisdom.
﴿ أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ ٱفۡتَرَىٰهُۖ قُلۡ إِنِ ٱفۡتَرَيۡتُهُۥ فَعَلَيَّ إِجۡرَامِي وَأَنَا۠ بَرِيٓءٞ مِّمَّا تُجۡرِمُونَ ﴾
سورة هود
35. Or they (the pagans of Makkah) say: "He (Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) has fabricated it (the Qur’ân)." Say: "If I have fabricated it, upon me be my crimes, but I am innocent of (all) those crimes which you commit."
﴿ يَعۡمَلُونَ لَهُۥ مَا يَشَآءُ مِن مَّحَٰرِيبَ وَتَمَٰثِيلَ وَجِفَانٖ كَٱلۡجَوَابِ وَقُدُورٖ رَّاسِيَٰتٍۚ ٱعۡمَلُوٓاْ ءَالَ دَاوُۥدَ شُكۡرٗاۚ وَقَلِيلٞ مِّنۡ عِبَادِيَ ٱلشَّكُورُ ﴾
سورة سبأ
They made for him what he willed of elevated chambers,[1220] statues,[1221] bowls like reservoirs, and stationary kettles. [We said], "Work, O family of David, in gratitude." And few of My servants are grateful.
﴿ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ كُتِبَ عَلَيۡكُمُ ٱلۡقِصَاصُ فِي ٱلۡقَتۡلَىۖ ٱلۡحُرُّ بِٱلۡحُرِّ وَٱلۡعَبۡدُ بِٱلۡعَبۡدِ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰ بِٱلۡأُنثَىٰۚ فَمَنۡ عُفِيَ لَهُۥ مِنۡ أَخِيهِ شَيۡءٞ فَٱتِّبَاعُۢ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَأَدَآءٌ إِلَيۡهِ بِإِحۡسَٰنٖۗ ذَٰلِكَ تَخۡفِيفٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ وَرَحۡمَةٞۗ فَمَنِ ٱعۡتَدَىٰ بَعۡدَ ذَٰلِكَ فَلَهُۥ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ ﴾
سورة البقرة
178. O you who believe! Al-Qisâs (the Law of Equality in punishment) is prescribed for you in case of murder: the free for the free, the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. But if the killer is forgiven by the brother (or the relatives, etc.) of the killed against blood-money, then adhering to it with fairness and payment of the blood-money to the heir should be made in fairness. This is an alleviation and a mercy from your Lord. So after this whoever transgresses the limits (i.e. kills the killer after taking the blood-money), he shall have a painful torment.
﴿ يَقُولُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ يَوۡمَئِذٍ أَيۡنَ ٱلۡمَفَرُّ ﴾
سورة القيامة
on that Day man will say, “Where is the escape?”
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that Umm Ar-Rubay‘ bint al-Barā', who was the mother of Hārithah ibn Surāqah, came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, will you not tell me about Hārithah (he was killed in the battle of Badr)? If he is in Paradise, I shall show endurance, but if he has met another fate, I will bitterly weep for him." He replied, "O mother of Hārithah, there are many ranks in the gardens of Paradise, and your son has attained Al-Firdaus."

Meaning of the Hadīth: Hārithah ibn Surāqah (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred during the battle of Badr by an arrow that no one knew where it came from. So, his mother went to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him about her son's fate. She was worried that he would not be considered a martyr, because he was killed by a random shot and did not participate in the battle. Another Hadīth reads: "He was killed during the battle of Badr and was hit by an unknown arrow." No one knows the shooter or where it comes from. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported in another Hadīth narrated by Ahmad and An-Nasā'i that when Hārithah went to a high place to patrol and be on the lookout for enemies to inform others about their position, he was shot dead by an arrow. For this reason, his mother (may Allah be pleased with her) said that if her son is in Paradise, she will be forbearing and patient about missing him and seek reward from Allah. Moreover, she will be happy that he was killed in the cause of Allah and has won martyrdom. If he has met another fate, she will bitterly weep for losing him and the loss of his life in vain. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) told her that there are many gardens of Paradise. In Al-Bukhāri's narration, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you think that it is only one garden? Verily, there are so many gardens, and he is in the highest Firdaus." This is a unique place, which is the best and highest rank, in Paradise. This is why the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you ask Allah for something, ask for the Firdaus; it is the best and highest place in Paradise, and above it is the Throne of the Beneficent, and from it originate the rivers of Paradise." Being the best place implies that it is the most spacious as well.
Abu Sa‘īd al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn are the masters of the youth of Paradise."

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informed that his two grandsons, Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn, the sons of ‘Ali ibn Abi Tālib and Fātimah, the Prophet's daughter (may Allah be pleased with them), are the masters of those who die young and enter Paradise in terms of virtue, or they are the masters of the youth of Paradise except for the prophets and the rightly-guided caliphs.
Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: 'One day the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) brought Al-Hasan and took him up the pulpit with him and said: "This son of mine is a master and hopefully Allah will reconcile by means of him two groups of Muslims."

One day the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) took Al-Hasan, when he was a little boy, to the mosque and got him up the pulpit. He told people that Al-Hasan, his grandson, was a master, i.e. of a noble origin since he belongs to the noblest house on earth. He further said that Allah, the Almighty, would reconcile by means of Al-Hasan two conflicting groups of the Muslims. The dispute would thus end and Muslims would unite. These words of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) certainly attest to his prophet-hood. He said that this noble master Al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) would end inter-Muslim conflicts and get Muslims together in unity. This actually took place when Al-Hasan relinquished the office of the caliphate in favor of Mu‘āwiyah, thereby preventing a bloodshed and creating unity in the Year of Jamā‘ah (40 or 41 AH).
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Anyone who loves Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn has indeed loved me, and anyone who hates them has indeed hated me.”

This Hadīth indicates the high status of Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn, the Prophet's grandsons. Anyone who loves them has indeed loved the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and anyone who hates them has actually hated the Prophet.
Yazīd ibn Hayyān reported: I went along with Husayn ibn Sabrah and ‘Amr ibn Muslim to Zayd ibn Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him). As we sat by his side, Husayn said to him: "O Zayd, you have acquired a great virtue as you saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) listened to his words, fought by his side (in different battles), and offered prayer behind him. You have, in fact, earned a great virtue. Could you narrate to us what you heard from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)?" He said: "I have grown old and it has been long. I have forgotten some of what I memorized from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him); so accept whatever I narrate to you, and do not compel me to narrate what I fail to narrate." He then said: "One day, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to deliver a sermon at a watering place known as Khumm located between Makkah and Madīnah. He praised Allah, extolled Him, and gave us an admonition and reminder. He then said: 'O people! I am only a human being. I am about to receive a messenger (the angel of death) from my Lord and I will respond to Allah's call, but I am leaving with you two weighty things; the first is the Book of Allah, in which there is right guidance and light. So hold fast to the Book of Allah and adhere to it.' He exhorted us to hold fast to the Book of Allah and then said: 'And members of my family. I remind you of Allah with regard to members of my family. I remind you of Allah with regard to members of my family.'" Husayn said to Zayd: "Who are the members of his family, O Zayd? Are his wives not members of his family?" Thereupon Zayd said: "His wives are members of his family. But here, the members of his family are those for whom Zakah is forbidden." He asked: "Who are they?" Zayd said: "The household of ‘Ali, ‘Aqīl, Ja‘far, and ‘Abbās." Husayn asked: "Is Zakah forbidden for all of them?" He said: 'Yes!' In another narration, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "But I am leaving with you two weighty things; the first is the Book of Allah, and it is the rope of Allah. Whoever holds fast to it shall be on the path of guidance, and whoever abandons it shall be on the path of error.”

Yazīd ibn Hayyān reported: I went along with Husayn ibn Sabrah and ‘Amr ibn Muslim to Zayd ibn Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him). As we were sitting with him, Husayn said to him: O Zayd, you have acquired a great virtue by seeing the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) listening to his words directly, fighting by his side, and praying behind him. You have, in fact, earned a great virtue. Could you narrate to us what you heard from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: I have grown old, and it has been long. I have forgotten some of the narrations I memorized from Allah's Messenger (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him); so accept whatever I narrate to you, and what I do not narrate, do not compel me to narrate. He then said: One day, the Messenger (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to deliver a sermon in a valley that had a water known as Khumm located between Makkah and Madīnah. He praised Allah, extolled Him, and reminded us of observing the right of servitude to Allah, which we were distracted from by our preoccupation with our families and dependents. He (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) then said: O people! I am only a human being, and I am about to die, but I am leaving with you two great and significant things: the first is the Qur'an, in which there is right guidance and light. So, follow it and force yourselves to adhere to it. He urged us to follow the Qur'an and adhere to its rope. Afterwards, he prompted us to be kind to his household, to obey Allah in them and observe their rights. He said that twice. Husayn asked Zayd about his household, and whether or not his wives were members of his family. Zayd said that his wives were members of his family as they lived with him and were under his responsibility. He commanded us to respect and honor them. However, generally speaking, his household are the ones for whom obligatory charity is forbidden, and those were the household of ‘Ali, ‘Aqīl, Ja‘far, and ‘Abbās. All of these are forbidden from taking any of the obligatory charity (i.e. Zakah, vows, and expiation). In another narration: Indeed, I am leaving behind two great matters: one of them is the Book of Allah. It is His covenant and the only means to His pleasure and mercy. It is His light by which He guides. So whoever follows it through observing its commandments and refraining from its prohibitions is following guidance, which is the opposite of error, and whoever turns away from its commandments and prohibitions is on error.
‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: I never felt jealous of any of the Prophet's wives more than I felt jealous of Khadījah (may Allah be pleased with her). I never saw her, but he used to mention her a lot. He would slaughter a sheep and cut it into pieces and then send (gifts of meat) to the friends of Khadījah. I would sometimes say to him: "It is as if there was none in the world except Khadījah!" And he would say: "She was such-and-such, and I had children from her." In another narration: "He would slaughter a sheep and send enough meat to her close friends." In a third narration: "When he slaughtered a sheep, he would say: 'Send it to the friends of Khadījah.'" In a fourth narration: "Hālah bint Khuwaylid, the sister of Khadījah, asked for permission to enter unto the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). So he remembered the way Khadījah would seek permission. This pleased him, and he said: 'O Allah, (let it be) Hālah bint Khuwaylid.'"

‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) says that she never felt jealous of any of the Prophet's wives more than she felt jealous of Khadījah (may Allah be pleased with her) who was the Prophet's first wife and had died before ‘Ā’ishah saw her. In Madīnah, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would slaughter a sheep and send gifts of meat to the friends of Khadījah. ‘Ā’ishah lost her patience, so she said to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) that it was as if there was none in the world except Khadījah. Therefore, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said that Khadījah did such-and-such good things, and he mentioned her qualities. He added something that revealed the secret of his deep love, amiability, and connection with Khadījah: he had children from her. Indeed, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) had four daughters and three sons, and they were all from Khadījah, except for his son Ibrahīm, who was from Māriyah al-Qibtiyyah, whom the king of the Copts gave as a present to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). Once, the sister of Khadījah, Hālah ibnt Khuwaylid, sought permission to meet the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). Since her voice and demeanor were similar to Khadījah's, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) remembered Khadījah and was pleased on that account.
‘Abdullāh ibn Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) gave glad tidings to Khadījah (may Allah be pleased with her) of a house in Paradise built of Qasab wherein there will be neither any noise nor any fatigue.

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) gave glad tidings to Khadījah (may Allah be pleased with her) - conveyed to him by Jibrīl (peace be upon him) - of a palace in Paradise built of hollow pearls wherein there will be neither any noise nor any fatigue. The mother of the believers Khadījah was the first woman the Prophet married at the age of 25 while she was 40, or 28, and had been previously married. She gave him his four daughters and three, or two, sons. He did not marry another woman till Khadījah's death. She was a smart and wise woman whose great acts are well known.
Al-Miswar ibn Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fātimah is a piece of me, so whoever makes her angry makes me angry."

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informs that his daughter Fātimah is part of him. So anyone who makes her angry, it is as if he angered the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him).
Ibn Abu Nu‘m reported: I saw Ibn ‘Umar when a man asked him about the blood of mosquitoes. Ibn ‘Umar asked: "Where are you from?" The man said: "From the people of Iraq." So he said: "Look at this man, he is asking me about the blood of mosquitoes, while they [Iraqis] killed the Prophet's grandson. I heard the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'They [his two grandsons] are my two flowers in this world.'"

A man from Iraq came to Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him: Is it permissible for a person in the state of Ihrām to kill harmful insects such as mosquitoes? Ibn ‘Umar was taken by surprise because the asker was concerned with such a trivial matter. Ibn ‘Umar was surprised by the question considering the man's background. He came from people who dared to commit major sins. So he said: ''Look at this man, he is asking me about the blood of mosquitoes, while they [Iraqis] killed the Prophet's grandson.'' So, they committed grave sins, yet showed that they feared Allah in their rituals. They even asked whether it was fine to kill mosquitoes. He then said: "I heard the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘They [his two grandsons] are my two flowers in this world.’” The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) described his two grandsons as flowers, because he would kiss and smell them, as if they were among the sweet-smelling things that people enjoy in this world.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I was accompanying the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) in one of the markets of Madīnah. He left and so did I. He said: "Where is Luka‘?" He repeated this three times and then said: "Call Al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali." Al-Hasan got up and walked [towards him] and he had a necklace round his neck. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) had his hand like this and Al-Hasan’s hand was the same and he hugged him and said: "O Allah, I do love him. So love him and love whoever loves him." Abu Hurayrah said: "There is none more beloved to me than Al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali." He said that after he heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) had said what he said about him.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) was with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) in one of the markets of Madīnah. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) left the market and so did Abu Hurayrah. he went to the house of Fātimah, (may Allah be pleased with her) and asked about Al-Hasan,(may Allah be pleased with him) asking: "Where is Luka‘?" He meant: where is the little child? He then said: "Call him for me." Al-Hasan got up and walked towards the Prophet wearing a necklace around his neck. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) stretched his hand out to hug Al-Hasan and he did the same thing. They hugged each other. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, I do love Al-Hasan. So love him and love whoever loves him." Abu Hurayrah commented: "There was none more beloved to me than Al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali. He said that after he heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) had said what he said about him.
If someone intends to do a good deed but was prevented by a valid excuse, he shall gain the reward of his intention.

Variation of reward for good deeds is based on sincerity and following of the Prophet’s guidance. The more a person is sincere to Allah, and the keener he is on following the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him), the more perfect his worship will be, and consequently his reward will be bigger.

People differ with regards to their acts of worship according to their intentions. The intentions of some people have reached the ultimate level of sincerity (to Allah) and keenness in following the Sunnah (of the Messenger of Allah) with regard to doing good and righteous deeds, while the intentions of others are below that.
