﴿ بَلۡ هُوَ ءَايَٰتُۢ بَيِّنَٰتٞ فِي صُدُورِ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡعِلۡمَۚ وَمَا يَجۡحَدُ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ إِلَّا ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ ﴾
سورة العنكبوت
49. Nay, but they, the clear Ayât [i.e. the description and the qualities of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم written in the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] are preserved in the breasts of those who have been given knowledge (among the people of the Scriptures). And none but the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrongdoers) deny Our Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.).[11]
﴿ كَأَنَّهُمۡ يَوۡمَ يَرَوۡنَهَا لَمۡ يَلۡبَثُوٓاْ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوۡ ضُحَىٰهَا ﴾
سورة النازعات
It will be, on the Day they see it,[1851] as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning thereof.
﴿ مُّحَمَّدٞ رَّسُولُ ٱللَّهِۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ مَعَهُۥٓ أَشِدَّآءُ عَلَى ٱلۡكُفَّارِ رُحَمَآءُ بَيۡنَهُمۡۖ تَرَىٰهُمۡ رُكَّعٗا سُجَّدٗا يَبۡتَغُونَ فَضۡلٗا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِضۡوَٰنٗاۖ سِيمَاهُمۡ فِي وُجُوهِهِم مِّنۡ أَثَرِ ٱلسُّجُودِۚ ذَٰلِكَ مَثَلُهُمۡ فِي ٱلتَّوۡرَىٰةِۚ وَمَثَلُهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡإِنجِيلِ كَزَرۡعٍ أَخۡرَجَ شَطۡـَٔهُۥ فَـَٔازَرَهُۥ فَٱسۡتَغۡلَظَ فَٱسۡتَوَىٰ عَلَىٰ سُوقِهِۦ يُعۡجِبُ ٱلزُّرَّاعَ لِيَغِيظَ بِهِمُ ٱلۡكُفَّارَۗ وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ مِنۡهُم مَّغۡفِرَةٗ وَأَجۡرًا عَظِيمَۢا ﴾
سورة الفتح
29. Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is the Messenger of Allâh. And those who are with him are severe against disbelievers, and merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and falling down prostrate (in prayer), seeking Bounty from Allâh and (His) Good Pleasure. The mark of them (i.e. of their Faith) is on their faces (foreheads) from the traces of prostration (during prayers). This is their description in the Taurât (Torah). But their description in the Injeel (Gospel) is like a (sown) seed which sends forth its shoot, then makes it strong, and becomes thick and it stands straight on its stem, delighting the sowers, that He may enrage the disbelievers with them. Allâh has promised those among them who believe (i.e. all those who follow Islâmic Monotheism, the religion of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم till the Day of Resurrection) and do righteous good deeds, forgiveness and a mighty reward (i.e. Paradise).
﴿ قُلۡ يَٰعِبَادِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱتَّقُواْ رَبَّكُمۡۚ لِلَّذِينَ أَحۡسَنُواْ فِي هَٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا حَسَنَةٞۗ وَأَرۡضُ ٱللَّهِ وَٰسِعَةٌۗ إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى ٱلصَّٰبِرُونَ أَجۡرَهُم بِغَيۡرِ حِسَابٖ ﴾
سورة الزمر
Say[7], “O My slaves who believe, fear your Lord. Those who do good in this world will have a good return, and Allah’s earth is spacious. Those who observe patience will be given their reward without measure.”
﴿ أَلَمۡ يَجۡعَلۡ كَيۡدَهُمۡ فِي تَضۡلِيلٖ ﴾
سورة الفيل
Did He not make their plan into misguidance?[1993]
﴿ وَلَوۡ أَنَّمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِن شَجَرَةٍ أَقۡلَٰمٞ وَٱلۡبَحۡرُ يَمُدُّهُۥ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ سَبۡعَةُ أَبۡحُرٖ مَّا نَفِدَتۡ كَلِمَٰتُ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٞ ﴾
سورة لقمان
And if whatever trees upon the earth were pens and the sea [was ink], replenished thereafter by seven [more] seas, the words[1165] of Allāh would not be exhausted. Indeed, Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.
﴿ وَأَعِدُّواْ لَهُم مَّا ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُم مِّن قُوَّةٖ وَمِن رِّبَاطِ ٱلۡخَيۡلِ تُرۡهِبُونَ بِهِۦ عَدُوَّ ٱللَّهِ وَعَدُوَّكُمۡ وَءَاخَرِينَ مِن دُونِهِمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ يَعۡلَمُهُمۡۚ وَمَا تُنفِقُواْ مِن شَيۡءٖ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ يُوَفَّ إِلَيۡكُمۡ وَأَنتُمۡ لَا تُظۡلَمُونَ ﴾
سورة الأنفال
60. And make ready against them all you can of power, including steeds of war (tanks, planes, missiles, artillery) to threaten the enemy of Allâh and your enemy, and others besides whom, you may not know but whom Allâh does know. And whatever you shall spend in the Cause of Allâh shall be repaid unto you, and you shall not be treated unjustly.
﴿ وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِي ٱلنَّارِ لِخَزَنَةِ جَهَنَّمَ ٱدۡعُواْ رَبَّكُمۡ يُخَفِّفۡ عَنَّا يَوۡمٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ﴾
سورة غافر
And those in the Fire will say to the keepers of Hell, "Supplicate your Lord to lighten for us a day from the punishment."
﴿ فَبَدَّلَ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ قَوۡلًا غَيۡرَ ٱلَّذِي قِيلَ لَهُمۡ فَأَنزَلۡنَا عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ رِجۡزٗا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَفۡسُقُونَ ﴾
سورة البقرة
But the wrongdoers changed the words to other than what they were told[33]; so We sent down upon the wrongdoers a torment from the heaven for their rebelliousness.
﴿ وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيۡهِمۡ ظِلَٰلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتۡ قُطُوفُهَا تَذۡلِيلٗا ﴾
سورة الإنسان
with shady branches spread above them, and clusters of fruit will be made within their reach.
‘Ā'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: I heard the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) saying: while reclining on me: "O Allah, forgive me, bestow Your mercy on me, and join me with the exalted companions."

As the time for the death of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) drew near, he reclined on the Mother of Believers ‘Ā'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) asking his Lord to join him with the companions and they are the prophets, the virtuous people, the martyrs, and the righteous
‘Ali ibn Abi Tālib (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: When he washed the body of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) he looked for what is usually found on the dead person’s body (i.e. dirt), but found nothing. Therefore, He said: "May my father be sacrificed for you, you are pure alive and dead."

When ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) washed the body of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) he went on looking for things that are usually looked for on the deceased like urine, excrement, and the like. Such things usually come out of the corpse as a result of joints’ relaxation. Nevertheless, ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) found nothing. So, he said: May my father be sacrificed for you, you are the pure one; you were pure when alive and you are pure when dead.
‘Abdullāh ibn Ash-Shikhkhīr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) praying and making a sound like the rumbling of a mill because of weeping.
An-Nasaa’i - Narrated by Abu Daoud - Narrated by Ahmad
‘Abdullāh ibn Ash-Shikhkhīr (may Allah be pleased with him) said that he saw the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) praying, and he could hear a sound from him similar to that of a mill. That sound made by the mill is produced by grinding. The Companion,(may Allah be pleased with him) likened the Prophet's weeping sound to the rumbling of the mill. This is how the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was with his Lord, though Allah has forgiven his previous and late sins. However, he was the most pious of people, the most conscious of Allah, and the one who feared Allah, the Exalted, the most owing to his perfect knowledge of his Lord.
Abu Zayd ibn Akhtab (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) wiped my face with his hand and supplicated for me. ‘Azrah (one of the narrators) said: "He lived for one hundred and twenty years and only had a few little grey hairs on his head.”

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) wiped over the face of Abu Zayd ibn Akhtab al-Ansāri (may Allah be pleased with him) with his hand and supplicated for him. According to another narration, the supplication made by the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was: "O Allah, make him beautiful, and make his beauty lasting", meaning: O Allah, make his beauty last throughout his life. ‘Azrah, one of the narrators, said that Abu Zayd al-Ansāri lived for one hundred and twenty years, and only a few little grey hairs were visible on his head till his death. In another narration, it was reported that Abu Zayd’s facial skin was smooth and wrinkle-free until the last day of his life, thanks to the Prophet's blessed supplication and his wipe over Abu Zayd's face.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that a woman with some sort of mental disorder said: "O Messenger of Allah, I need your help in a certain matter." He said: "O Mother of so-and-so, choose which road you would like (to meet me on) so that I may give you the help you need." He then stood aside with her on some road until she finished telling him what she needed.

A woman known to be mentally unstable said to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) that she needed his help. He asked her to choose a road on which they can meet so that he would help her with what she needed. He then stood aside with her on a much-trodden road until he gave her the help she needed. Needless to say, this was not forbidden seclusion with a non-Mahram woman, because the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) stood aside with her on a much-trodden road where people could see them both but without hearing the woman’s speech (out of respect for her privacy). This behavior shows how humble and compassionate the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was towards his followers.
‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would give up a deed, even though he liked to perform it, for fear that people would follow him and perform it, and it would thus become obligatory for them. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) never prayed the Duha prayer, but I offer it.

‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) relates that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would give up a deed, even though he liked to perform it, for fear that people would follow him and perform it, and it would thus become obligatory for them, and this might prove difficult for them. Then, she says that the Prophet would not perform the Duha prayer, but the scholars took this negation to refer to lack of regular performance; that is the Prophet would offer it sometimes, for its merit, and abandon it at other times lest it might beccome obligatory for people, as she mentions early in the Hadīth.
Ibn Mas‘ūd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I prayed one night with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and he continued standing for long until I was I about to do something bad. Someone said: What were you about to do? He said: I was about to sit down and leave him (standing).

Ibn Mas‘ūd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I prayed one night with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and he prolonged the standing for so long that I was I about to do something bad. It was asked: "What were you about to do?" He said: "I was about to sit down and leave him (standing)."
Jābir ibn ‘Abdullāh (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) entered upon a man of the Ansār, accompanied by one of his Companions. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you have any water that has remained this night in a skin (we would like it), otherwise we would drink directly (from a water source)."

Jābir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) entered the house of a man of the Ansār. It is said that he was Abu al-Haytham ibn At-Tayyihān al-Ansāri. The Prophet was accompanied by his Companion Abu Bakr. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) asked the Ansāri man if he had any water that had remained overnight in a water skin, and this was in summer. The wisdom behind that is that the water which remains overnight is cool. If he did not have such water, they would drink water directly with their mouths from a water source, without using a cup or their hand.
‘Abdullāh ibn Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) had a large bowl called Al-Gharrā', which needed four men to carry it. One day, when they finished their Duha prayer, that bowl was brought full of bread sopped in broth, and they sat down around it. When their number increased, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) knelt down (sat on his knees, resting on his feet). A Bedouin said: "What sort of sitting is that!" Thereupon, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Verily, Allah has made me a noble slave, not an obstinate tyrant." Then he said: "Eat from the sides of the bowl and leave the center so that your food would be blessed."

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) had a big bowl to serve food in called Al-Gharrā' that four men used to carry. One day, when the Companions finished performing their Duha prayer, Al-Gharrā' was brought full of bread sopped in broth, and they sat down around it. When their number increased and the circle around the bowl became too narrow to accommodate everyone, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) sat down on his knees resting on his feet to make room for his brothers. A Bedouin said to him in amazement: "What is this way of sitting, O Messenger of Allah," because of the humility it involved. Thereupon, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Verily, Allah has made me a noble slave through prophet-hood and knowledge, and He has not made me an obstinate tyrant." The Prophet was indeed neither arrogant nor despotic. Then he said to the Companions: "Eat from the sides of the bowl and leave its center," explaining that this is a reason to attain blessing in food.
‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) divided some wealth, and I said to him: "O Messenger of Allah, were not other than those people more deserving of it than them?" He replied: "They left me no alternative but that they either beg of me importunately or regard me as a miser, and I am not a miser."

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) divided money that he received among some people and gave nothing to others. So ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: Shouldn't you give those whom you have not given, since they are more deserving than those who were given? The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) answered: They were persistent in their demand (to get a share) because of their weak faith. Their situation made me choose between their recourse to importunate demanding or to calling me a miser (for not giving them). So he chose to give them since miserliness was not one of his traits, and also to appease them and win their hearts in favor of Islam.
If someone intends to do a good deed but was prevented by a valid excuse, he shall gain the reward of his intention.
Riyadh Al-Salheen with explanation and benefits
Variation of reward for good deeds is based on sincerity and following of the Prophet’s guidance. The more a person is sincere to Allah, and the keener he is on following the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him), the more perfect his worship will be, and consequently his reward will be bigger.

People differ with regards to their acts of worship according to their intentions. The intentions of some people have reached the ultimate level of sincerity (to Allah) and keenness in following the Sunnah (of the Messenger of Allah) with regard to doing good and righteous deeds, while the intentions of others are below that.

Love and contentment is measured by good deeds and intentions because they are the criteria for Allah’s acceptance of the servant; perhaps a small deed reaps great reward because of the intention behind it and perhaps a big deed reaps little reward because of the intention behind it

One of the proofs Allah supports the servant is the latter’s sincere endeavor to rectify his intention and purify his heart by good deeds.
