﴿ وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَۚ وَمَا تُقَدِّمُواْ لِأَنفُسِكُم مِّنۡ خَيۡرٖ تَجِدُوهُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ بَصِيرٞ ﴾
سورة البقرة
And establish prayer and give zakah. Whatever good you send forth for yourselves, you will find it with Allah, for Allah is All-Seeing of what you do.
﴿ لَوۡ يَعۡلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ حِينَ لَا يَكُفُّونَ عَن وُجُوهِهِمُ ٱلنَّارَ وَلَا عَن ظُهُورِهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ يُنصَرُونَ ﴾
سورة الأنبياء
If only the disbelievers knew the moment when they would be unable to ward the Fire off their faces or their backs, nor would they be helped[16].
﴿ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ ﴾
سورة الشعراء
158. So the torment overtook them. Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers.
﴿ أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ ﴾
سورة نوح
To worship Allāh, fear Him and obey me.
﴿ ثُمَّ بَعَثۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ رُسُلًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِمۡ فَجَآءُوهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ فَمَا كَانُواْ لِيُؤۡمِنُواْ بِمَا كَذَّبُواْ بِهِۦ مِن قَبۡلُۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَطۡبَعُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُعۡتَدِينَ ﴾
سورة يونس
74. Then after him We sent Messengers to their people. They brought them clear proofs, but they would not believe what they had already rejected beforehand. Thus We seal the hearts of the transgressors (those who disbelieve in the Oneness of Allâh and disobey Him).
﴿ وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَيۡهِم مَّطَرٗاۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِينَ ﴾
سورة النمل
58. And We rained down on them a rain (of stones). So evil was the rain of those who were warned.
﴿ وَكَذَّبُواْ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓاْ أَهۡوَآءَهُمۡۚ وَكُلُّ أَمۡرٖ مُّسۡتَقِرّٞ ﴾
سورة القمر
They deny [the truth] and follow their desires, but every matter will reach its inevitable end.
﴿ عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ ﴾
سورة النبأ
About the great news[1821] -
﴿ وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلۡمَلَكُ صَفّٗا صَفّٗا ﴾
سورة الفجر
And your Lord has come[1921] and the angels, rank upon rank,
﴿ أَوۡ مِسۡكِينٗا ذَا مَتۡرَبَةٖ ﴾
سورة البلد
16. Or to a Miskîn (poor) cleaving to dust (out of misery).
‘Ā’ishah, Mother of the Believers, (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to strive during the last ten more than he would strive at any other time.

Upon reaching the last ten nights of Ramadan, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to exert himself in performing acts of worship and acts of obedience. He used to exaggerate in offering various types of good deeds, different forms of acts of benevolence, and acts of worship more than he would offer at any other time, given the greatness and merit of such nights and seeking the Night of Decree.
‘Ā'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: We used to prepare for the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) his tooth-stick and the water he used for making ablution. Then, Allah would awaken him whenever He willed during the night, and he would brush his teeth with the tooth-stick, make ablution, and perform prayer.

‘Ā'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) tells that she used to prepare for the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) his tooth-stick and the water with which he would make ablution at night. Then Allah, Blessed and Exalted, would wake him from his sleep at any time of the night. When he woke up, he would begin with cleaning his teeth with the tooth-stick in order to remove the odor that affects the mouth because of sleep. Then he would make ablution for prayer, then offer voluntary night prayer.
Abu ‘Abs ‘Abdur-Rahmān ibn Jabr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Anyone whose feet get covered with dust in the cause of Allah will not be touched by the Fire."
Narrated by Bukhari
The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) gave glad tidings that whoever gets his feet covered with dust while striving in the cause of Allah, the Fire will not touch him.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The martyr feels nothing from the agony of death except as one of you feels from the sting of an ant.”
Narrated by Ibn Majah - Narrated by At-Termedhy - An-Nasaa’i - Narrated by Ahmad - Ad-Daarimi
Explanation: When a person is martyred in the cause of Allah, what he suffers from the agony or pain of death is similar to the pain that we feel from the sting an ant. This means that the martyr does not suffer the throes and stupors of death the way other people do; rather, the greatest pain he suffers and feels at the time of his death is similar to the quick pain that we feel from the bite of an ant. This is part of the favor of Allah, the Almighty, upon the martyr. He sacrificed his life for the sake of Allah, considering it a small price to pay, and thus Allah alleviated the pain of death from him.
Abu Mūsa al-Ash‘ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever prays the Bardayn (Fajr and ‘Asr prayers) will enter Paradise."

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) encourages the observance of the Bardayn, namely the Fajr and ‘Asr prayers. He gave glad tidings for whoever observes them in their due manner in terms of time, congregation, etc, that they would be a means of admitting him to Paradise.
Abu Qatādah al-Hārith ibn Rib‘i (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) stood up among his Companions and said: "Jihad for the cause of Allah and faith in Allah are the most virtuous of actions." A man stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah, inform me, if I am killed for the cause of Allah, will my sins be forgiven?" The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, if you are killed for the cause of Allah while you are patient, hopeful of the reward, and advancing forward without retracing (while fighting)." Then he said: "What was your question?" He inquired again: "Inform me, if I am killed for the cause of Allah, will all my sins be forgiven?" The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "If you remained patient and hopeful of the reward and fought without turning your back to the enemy. Everything (of your sins will be forgiven) except debt. Jibrīl told me this."

The Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and addressed his Companions and told them about the high status of Jihad and that the most noble deeds are jihad for establishing Allah’s religion on this earth and having faith in Allah. A man asked if Allah would forgive his sins if he were to be killed in battle while attempting to establish the dominance of Allah’s religion. The Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) replied in the positive. However, there are conditions. One must be killed while being patient withstanding the pain, sincere in his cause, and without retreating. The Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) exempted debt, declaring that martyrdom is not an exemption to returning people their rights.
Abu Qatādah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he went looking for his debtor, who hid from him. Then, on finding him, he said: I am insolvent. He said: By Allah? He said: By Allah! He said: Verily, I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever is pleased to be saved by Allah from the agonies of the Day of Judgment, let him give the insolvent respite or grant him remission."

Abu Qatādah al-Ansāri (may Allah be pleased with him) was searching for his debtor, who was hiding from him. When he found him, the debtor said: I am insolvent, and I have no money to repay your debt. Abu Qatādah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him to swear by Allah that he had no money, and the man swore by Allah that he was telling the truth. Thereupon, Abu Qatādah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that he heard the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever is pleased and delighted to be saved by Allah from the agonies, tribulations, and horrors of the Day of Judgment, let him give an insolvent person respite by postponing or delaying the demand of payment or by reducing the debt or canceling it.
‘Ā'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that she said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have two neighbors, so which one of them should I give a gift to?" He said: "The one whose door is the nearest to you."

‘Ā'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him): I have two neighbors, and I have been ordered to be generous to neighbors in general, but I cannot afford to give a gift to both of them at the same time. So which one should I give a gift to so as to be considered from those who are generous to neighbors? he said: The one whose door is the nearest to you.
‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: On the day of the Conquest of Makkah, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no emigration after the Conquest (of Makkah), but there is Jihad and good intention, and whenever you are called for Jihad, you should immediately respond to the call." On the same day, he added: "Verily, Allah has made this city sacred since the day He created the heavens and the earth. Thus, it is a sanctuary by Allah’s decree until the Day of Judgment. Fighting in it was not permissible for anyone before me, and it was made permissible for me for only an hour of a day. It is sacred by the sacredness granted by Allah until the Day of Judgment. Its thorns should not be cut off, and its game should not be chased, and any lost item found therein should not be picked up except by one who would announce it publicly, and its green grass should not be cut off." Al-‘Abbās said: "O Messenger of Allah, except for lemongrass, for it is used by their blacksmiths and for their domestic purposes.' So, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) responded: "Except for lemongrass."

Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) informs that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon on the Day of the Conquest of Makkah. He said that there is no emigration from Makkah, because it has become part of the Muslim lands. He then ordered the Muslims to fight if they are ordered to, in obedience to Allah, His Messenger and the ruler of the land. He then spoke of the sanctity of Makkah, and that it has been made sacred since Allah created the heavens and the earth. He said that it was not made lawful for anyone to fight in before him and that it will not be made permissible for any one after him either, as it was made lawful for him to fight therein for only an hour of the day, and then it returned to its original state of sanctity. He then mentioned that it is not permissible to cut off its thorns or to chase its game, and that no one should pick up lost items found in it except if he wants to announce it. He added that its vegetation should not be cut off, including grass and fodder. He excluded lemongrass because of the benefits it provides to the people of Makkah as it was used by the blacksmiths in starting fire for their work.
Abu ’Umāmah Iyās ibn Tha‘labah al-Hārithi (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever seizes the right of a Muslim person by his oath, Allah will condemn him to Hellfire and will make Paradise forbidden for him." A man said to him: Even if it is something insignificant, O Messenger of Allah? He said: "Even if it is a twig of Arāk."

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) warned against falsely swearing by Allah, knowingly, to unjustly take the right of a Muslim person. The punishment for this is to be deserving of Hellfire and to be deprived of Paradise, and it is considered one of the major sins. A man said: O Messenger of Allah, even if the thing being sworn about is something insignificant? He (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: Even if it is a tooth-stick taken from the Arāk tree.
Whoever feels remorse for a sin, Allah will guide him to repentance and help him fulfill it.
