﴿ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَدۡخُلُواْ بُيُوتَ ٱلنَّبِيِّ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤۡذَنَ لَكُمۡ إِلَىٰ طَعَامٍ غَيۡرَ نَٰظِرِينَ إِنَىٰهُ وَلَٰكِنۡ إِذَا دُعِيتُمۡ فَٱدۡخُلُواْ فَإِذَا طَعِمۡتُمۡ فَٱنتَشِرُواْ وَلَا مُسۡتَـٔۡنِسِينَ لِحَدِيثٍۚ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكُمۡ كَانَ يُؤۡذِي ٱلنَّبِيَّ فَيَسۡتَحۡيِۦ مِنكُمۡۖ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَسۡتَحۡيِۦ مِنَ ٱلۡحَقِّۚ وَإِذَا سَأَلۡتُمُوهُنَّ مَتَٰعٗا فَسۡـَٔلُوهُنَّ مِن وَرَآءِ حِجَابٖۚ ذَٰلِكُمۡ أَطۡهَرُ لِقُلُوبِكُمۡ وَقُلُوبِهِنَّۚ وَمَا كَانَ لَكُمۡ أَن تُؤۡذُواْ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ وَلَآ أَن تَنكِحُوٓاْ أَزۡوَٰجَهُۥ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦٓ أَبَدًاۚ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكُمۡ كَانَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ عَظِيمًا ﴾
سورة الأحزاب
O you who believe, do not enter the houses of the Prophet unless you are given permission for a meal; not so early as to wait for the meal to be prepared. But if you are invited, then enter, and when you have eaten, then disperse, without lingering for conversation. Such [behavior] causes annoyance to the Prophet; he is too shy to express it to you, but Allah is not shy of [telling] the truth. And if you ask his wives for something, ask them from behind a screen; that is purer for your hearts and their hearts. It is not lawful for you to cause annoyance to Allah’s Messenger, or to ever marry his wives after him, for that is indeed an enormous sin before Allah.
﴿ وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَايَاتُنَا بَيِّنَٰتٖ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرۡجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا ٱئۡتِ بِقُرۡءَانٍ غَيۡرِ هَٰذَآ أَوۡ بَدِّلۡهُۚ قُلۡ مَا يَكُونُ لِيٓ أَنۡ أُبَدِّلَهُۥ مِن تِلۡقَآيِٕ نَفۡسِيٓۖ إِنۡ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَيَّۖ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ إِنۡ عَصَيۡتُ رَبِّي عَذَابَ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٖ ﴾
سورة يونس
When Our verses are recited to them clearly, those who do not expect to meet Us say, “Bring us a different Qur’an, or make changes in it[19].” Say, “It is not for me to change it on my own accord; I only follow what is revealed to me. If I were to disobey my Lord, I fear the punishment of a momentous Day.”
﴿ وَإِذۡ قَالَ إِبۡرَٰهِيمُ رَبِّ ٱجۡعَلۡ هَٰذَا ٱلۡبَلَدَ ءَامِنٗا وَٱجۡنُبۡنِي وَبَنِيَّ أَن نَّعۡبُدَ ٱلۡأَصۡنَامَ ﴾
سورة إبراهيم
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when Abraham said, "My Lord, make this city [i.e., Makkah] secure and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.
﴿ فَسَتَذۡكُرُونَ مَآ أَقُولُ لَكُمۡۚ وَأُفَوِّضُ أَمۡرِيٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَصِيرُۢ بِٱلۡعِبَادِ ﴾
سورة غافر
44. "And you will remember what I am telling you, and my affair I leave it to Allâh. Verily, Allâh is the All-Seer of (His) slaves."
﴿ بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوۡحَىٰ لَهَا ﴾
سورة الزلزلة
because your Lord has inspired it [to do so].
﴿ مُّحَمَّدٞ رَّسُولُ ٱللَّهِۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ مَعَهُۥٓ أَشِدَّآءُ عَلَى ٱلۡكُفَّارِ رُحَمَآءُ بَيۡنَهُمۡۖ تَرَىٰهُمۡ رُكَّعٗا سُجَّدٗا يَبۡتَغُونَ فَضۡلٗا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِضۡوَٰنٗاۖ سِيمَاهُمۡ فِي وُجُوهِهِم مِّنۡ أَثَرِ ٱلسُّجُودِۚ ذَٰلِكَ مَثَلُهُمۡ فِي ٱلتَّوۡرَىٰةِۚ وَمَثَلُهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡإِنجِيلِ كَزَرۡعٍ أَخۡرَجَ شَطۡـَٔهُۥ فَـَٔازَرَهُۥ فَٱسۡتَغۡلَظَ فَٱسۡتَوَىٰ عَلَىٰ سُوقِهِۦ يُعۡجِبُ ٱلزُّرَّاعَ لِيَغِيظَ بِهِمُ ٱلۡكُفَّارَۗ وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ مِنۡهُم مَّغۡفِرَةٗ وَأَجۡرًا عَظِيمَۢا ﴾
سورة الفتح
Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allāh; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating [in prayer], seeking bounty from Allāh and [His] pleasure. Their sign is in their faces from the effect of prostration [i.e., prayer]. That is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is as a plant which produces its offshoots and strengthens them so they grow firm and stand upon their stalks, delighting the sowers - so that He [i.e., Allāh] may enrage by them[1518] the disbelievers. Allāh has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds among them forgiveness and a great reward.
﴿ وَنَجَّيۡنَٰهُ وَلُوطًا إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلَّتِي بَٰرَكۡنَا فِيهَا لِلۡعَٰلَمِينَ ﴾
سورة الأنبياء
And We saved him and Lot [and brought him] to the land[27] that we have blessed for all people.
﴿ مَّنۡ عَمِلَ صَٰلِحٗا فَلِنَفۡسِهِۦۖ وَمَنۡ أَسَآءَ فَعَلَيۡهَاۗ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِظَلَّٰمٖ لِّلۡعَبِيدِ ﴾
سورة فصلت
46. Whosoever does righteous good deed, it is for (the benefit of) his ownself; and whosoever does evil, it is against his ownself. And your Lord is not at all unjust to (His) slaves.[5]
﴿ فَلَوۡ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةٗ فَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ ﴾
سورة الشعراء
Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers..."[1053]
﴿ فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ﴾
سورة الرحمن
Then which of the favors of your Lord will you deny?
‘Umar ibn Abi Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I was a young boy under the care of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), and my hand used to wander all over the platter (of food). The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O boy, mention Allah's name, eat with your right hand, and eat from what is nearer to you." Since then, I have been eating that way.

Umar bin Abi Salamah, may God be pleased with them both, the son of the wife of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, Umm Salamah, wife Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) - and he was under his upbringing and care - narrates that while eating, he used to move his hand all over the platter to pick up food, so the Prophet, (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), taught him three etiquettes of Eating etiquette: First: Saying 'bismillāh' (in the name of Allah) when beginning to eat. Second: Eating with the right hand. Third: Eating from the side next to one.
Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If anyone of you eats, let him eat with his right hand, and if he drinks, let him drink with his right hand, for indeed the devil eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand."
Narrated by Muslim
The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) enjoins that Muslims should eat and drink with their right hand and forbade eating and drinking with their left hand. This is because the devil eats and drinks with the left hand.
‘Abdur-Rahmān ibn Abi Layla reported that they were in the company of Hudhayfah, who asked for water, and a Magian brought him water. On placing the cup in his hand, he threw it at him and said, Had I not forbidden him more than once or twice—as if he were saying, I would not have done this—however, I heard the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Do not wear silk or brocade, and do not drink from gold or silver vessels, and do not eat in platters made therefrom, for they are for them in this world and for us in the Hereafter."

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade men from wearing all kinds of silk. He forbade men and women from eating or drinking in vessels and containers made of gold and silver. He stated that they would be exclusive for the believers on the Day of Judgment because they avoided using them in this world out of obedience to Allah. As for the disbelievers, they will not enjoy it in the Hereafter because they hastened to enjoy their share of pleasures in this world and disobeyed Allah's command.
‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever wears silk in the life of this world will not wear it in the Hereafter."

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) pointed out that whoever among men wears silk in this world will not wear it in the Hereafter as a punishment for him unless he repents from it.
Abu Sa‘īd al-Khudri reported: Mu‘āwiyah came upon a group of people sitting in a circle in the mosque and said: What has made you sit together? They said: We have sat together to remember Allah. He said: I adjure you by Allah, has nothing else made you sit together? They replied: By Allah, nothing else has made us sit together. He said: Indeed, I have not asked you to swear because I suspect you, and there was no one in the position I was in from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) who narrates fewer Hadīths from him than me. Verily, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) came upon a group of his Companions sitting in a circle and said: "What has made you sit together?" They said: We have sat together to remember Allah and praise Him for having guided us to Islam and for bestowing favor upon us. He said: "I adjure you by Allah, has nothing else made you sit together?" They said: By Allah, nothing else has made us sit together. He said: "Indeed, I have not asked you to swear because I suspect you, but Jibrīl (Gabriel) came and told me that Allah Almighty is boasting about you before the angels."

Mu‘āwiyah ibn Abi Sufyān (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) came upon a group of people sitting in a circle in the mosque and asked them about the purpose behind their gathering. They replied: We are remembering Allah. He (may Allah be pleased with him) asked them to swear that they had only gathered and sat for the purpose of remembering Allah, and they swore to him. Then he said to them, I have not asked you to swear because I suspect you or question your truthfulness. He, then, was informed about his status by the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and that no one was closer to him than he was, given the fact that his sister ’Umm Habībah was the Prophet's wife and that he was one of the scribes of the revelation, yet he did not narrate many Hadīths. He narrated to them that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) came out of his home one day and found them sitting in the mosque, remembering Allah and praising Him for guiding them to Islam and for bestowing favor upon them. He (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) asked them and demanded they swear, just as Mu‘āwiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) did with his companions. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) then informed them of the reason behind asking them and requiring them to swear, saying: Gabriel, the angel, (peace be upon him) came to him and informed him that Allah Almighty was boasting about you and taking pride in you before the angels; showing them your merit and the excellence of your deed and praising you in their presence.
‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah, may anyone of us sleep while being ritually impure?" He said: "Yes, he may sleep if he makes ablution."

‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) about whether it is permissible for a man to sleep in a state of ritual impurity at the earlier part of the night, after having sexual intercourse with his wife, even if there is no ejaculation, or having a wet dream. The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) declared it permissible, provided that this major ritual impurity is lessened with ablution.
Jābir ibn ‘Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) reported that he heard the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When one mentions Allah's name upon entering his house and upon eating, the devil says (to his companions): 'There is no night shelter nor supper here for you.' However, when one does not mention Allah's name upon entering his house, the devil says: 'You have found yourselves a night shelter.' If one does not mention Allah's name when starting to eat, the devil says: 'You have found yourselves both a night shelter and supper.'"

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) commands us to mention Allah upon entering the house and before eating. When one mentions Allah saying: "Bismillāh" (in the Name of Allah) upon entering his house and before eating, the devil says to his companions: You shall not have a night shelter or supper in this house whose owner has sought protection against you by mentioning Allah Almighty. However, if one enters his house without mentioning Allah upon entering and before eating, the devil informs his companions that they will have a night shelter and supper in this house.
Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Show reverence to Muhammad (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) by honoring his family members."

The report of Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) contains proof of the Companions' recognition of the rights of the Messenger's household and proof of the respect and reverence for them. There are two types of rights that are due to anyone from the prophetic household who was steadfast in the religion and followed the Prophet's Sunnah: their right for being Muslims, besides their right for being relatives of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). The report of Abu Bakr indicates that he and the Companions loved the household of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and advised the later generations to revere them.
‘Imrān ibn Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Modesty brings nothing but good." In another narration: "All of modesty is good."

Modesty is the kind of trait that induces humans to perform actions that beautify and adorn and to abandon actions that defile and dishonor. Hence, it brings nothing but good. The reason the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said this is because he met someone who was advising his brother against excessive modesty.
Abu Mūsa (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Verily, the example of the righteous companion and the evil companion is like that of the carrier of the musk and the blower of the bellows. The carrier of the musk will either give you, or you will buy from him, or you will get a pleasant smell from him, and the blower of the bellows will either burn your clothes or you will get an offensive smell."

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) provided an example for two types of people: First type: The righteous companion and friend who guides others to Allah and to what pleases Him and helps others obey Him. His example is like that of the musk seller who will either give you some thereof, or you will buy from him, or you will smell and get from him a pleasant fragrance. Second type: The evil companion and friend who turns others away from the path of Allah and helps them commit sins, the one whom you see doing evil deeds and you receive criticism for being in his company. His example is like that of the blacksmith who blows his fire and either burns your clothes with the flying sparks of fire or you get a nasty smell from being close to him.
Whoever feels remorse for a sin, Allah will guide him to repentance and help him fulfill it.
