﴿ وَيَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلرُّوحِۖ قُلِ ٱلرُّوحُ مِنۡ أَمۡرِ رَبِّي وَمَآ أُوتِيتُم مِّنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗا ﴾
سورة الإسراء
They ask you [O Prophet] about the spirit[76]. Say, “The soul is only known to my Lord, and you have not been given knowledge except a little.”
﴿ إِن تَكۡفُرُواْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَنِيٌّ عَنكُمۡۖ وَلَا يَرۡضَىٰ لِعِبَادِهِ ٱلۡكُفۡرَۖ وَإِن تَشۡكُرُواْ يَرۡضَهُ لَكُمۡۗ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٞ وِزۡرَ أُخۡرَىٰۚ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُم مَّرۡجِعُكُمۡ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمُۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ ﴾
سورة الزمر
If you disbelieve - indeed, Allāh is Free from need of you. And He does not approve for His servants disbelief. And if you are grateful, He approves [i.e., likes] it for you; and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you about what you used to do. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.
﴿ لَيۡسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ ﴾
سورة النجم
58. None besides Allâh can avert it (or advance it or delay it).
﴿ فَلَمَّا جَآءَهَا نُودِيَ أَنۢ بُورِكَ مَن فِي ٱلنَّارِ وَمَنۡ حَوۡلَهَا وَسُبۡحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ ﴾
سورة النمل
When he came to it, he was called, “Blessed is He Who is at the fire and those who are around it[3]. Glory be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
﴿ وَنَبِّئۡهُمۡ أَنَّ ٱلۡمَآءَ قِسۡمَةُۢ بَيۡنَهُمۡۖ كُلُّ شِرۡبٖ مُّحۡتَضَرٞ ﴾
سورة القمر
28. And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them, each one’s right to drink being established (by turns).
﴿ وَمِنۡهُم مَّن يَسۡتَمِعُ إِلَيۡكَۖ وَجَعَلۡنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ أَكِنَّةً أَن يَفۡقَهُوهُ وَفِيٓ ءَاذَانِهِمۡ وَقۡرٗاۚ وَإِن يَرَوۡاْ كُلَّ ءَايَةٖ لَّا يُؤۡمِنُواْ بِهَاۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءُوكَ يُجَٰدِلُونَكَ يَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ ﴾
سورة الأنعام
There are some among them who listen to you[7], but We have placed covers on their hearts so that they do not understand it, and deafness in their ears. Even if they were to see every sign, they would still not believe in them. When they come to you arguing, the disbelievers say, “This is nothing but ancient fables.”
﴿ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَ أَمۡرُنَا وَفَارَ ٱلتَّنُّورُ قُلۡنَا ٱحۡمِلۡ فِيهَا مِن كُلّٖ زَوۡجَيۡنِ ٱثۡنَيۡنِ وَأَهۡلَكَ إِلَّا مَن سَبَقَ عَلَيۡهِ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ وَمَنۡ ءَامَنَۚ وَمَآ ءَامَنَ مَعَهُۥٓ إِلَّا قَلِيلٞ ﴾
سورة هود
When Our command came and the oven overflowed, We said, “Take on board a pair from every species and your family[20] – except those who have already been decreed [to drown][21] – and those who believe.” But none believed with him except a few.
﴿ هُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَصَدُّوكُمۡ عَنِ ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ ٱلۡحَرَامِ وَٱلۡهَدۡيَ مَعۡكُوفًا أَن يَبۡلُغَ مَحِلَّهُۥۚ وَلَوۡلَا رِجَالٞ مُّؤۡمِنُونَ وَنِسَآءٞ مُّؤۡمِنَٰتٞ لَّمۡ تَعۡلَمُوهُمۡ أَن تَطَـُٔوهُمۡ فَتُصِيبَكُم مِّنۡهُم مَّعَرَّةُۢ بِغَيۡرِ عِلۡمٖۖ لِّيُدۡخِلَ ٱللَّهُ فِي رَحۡمَتِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُۚ لَوۡ تَزَيَّلُواْ لَعَذَّبۡنَا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنۡهُمۡ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا ﴾
سورة الفتح
It is they who disbelieved and prevented you from the Sacred Mosque and detained the sacrificial animals[14] from reaching their place of sacrifice. If it had not been for the believing men and women whom you could not identify, you might have trampled over them, thus incurring guilt unknowingly, [We would have let you march to Makkah]. [This was] so that Allah may admit to His mercy whom He wills[15]. If they had been distinct [from the disbelievers], We would surely have inflicted on those who disbelieved among them a painful punishment.
﴿ ذَٰلِكَ فَضۡلُ ٱللَّهِ يُؤۡتِيهِ مَن يَشَآءُۚ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو ٱلۡفَضۡلِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ ﴾
سورة الجمعة
That is the bounty of Allāh, which He gives to whom He wills, and Allāh is the possessor of great bounty.
﴿ قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٞ ﴾
سورة الحاقة
Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near.
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: There were two brothers during the time of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). One of them used to come to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and the other used to work to earn a living. Once, the working brother complained to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) about his brother. Thereupon, he replied: "Perhaps you are granted sustenance because of him."
Narrated by At-Termedhy
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said that there were two brothers at the time of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). One of them used to regularly attend the Prophet's gatherings and stay with him in order to acquire knowledge, and learn his words and actions. As for the other brother, he used to have a profession and work to earn a living. Once the one who was working complained to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) about his brother who did not work. So, he told him soothingly that perhaps his financial support of his brother was the reason that sustenance had been made easy for him to attain. That is because Allah continues to aid the one, as long as he aids his brother.
‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: A poor woman came to me carrying her two daughters. So I gave her three dates to eat, and she gave one to each of her daughters. She then lifted a date to her mouth to eat it, but her daughters asked for it, so she split the date between the two of them. Her action amazed me. I mentioned what she did to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and he said: "Because of it, Allah either admitted her to Paradise or freed her from Hell."

The Hadīth of ‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) depicts another spectacle of compassion from the elderly towards the young. She said: "A poor woman came to me carrying her two daughters, and I gave her three dates to eat." As soon as the woman gave each of her daughters a date to eat and started to eat hers, the two daughters looked longingly at the date that the mother had lifted to her mouth. The mother did not eat it; instead, she split it in half and fed each daughter a half of the date, while she ate nothing. So ‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) mentioned that to the Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). He then informed her: "Because of this, Allah either admitted her to Paradise or freed her from Hell." Because she displayed such magnificent compassion towards them, Allah admitted her to Paradise.
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “You indulge in such actions that are less significant in your eyes than a hair, while we used to consider them destructive sins during the Prophet’s lifetime.”

Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) addressed a group of people who took some deeds lightly, saying: You take some sins lightly because you fail to consider the greatness of the One you disobey. They seem trivial in your sight; whereas the Companions used to consider them as destructive sins, given the greatness of the One disobeyed, and because they were extremely fearful and heedful of their Lord and used to hold themselves accountable for their actions.
Usayd ibn Hudayr and Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with both of them) reported: A man from the Ansār said: "O Messenger of Allah, will you not appoint me as you appointed so-and-so?" He replied: "You will experience favoritism after me, so have patience until you meet me at the Basin."

A man came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him to appoint him as a ruler like the rest of those whom he had appointed. So the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) advised him as well as his Companions to have patience in the face of the future oppression and injustice that would be inflicted by rulers, who will monopolize the wealth and goods of the nation and deprive their subjects thereof. He commanded them to have patience until they meet him at his Basin.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Two men from the Companions of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) left his house on a dark night and were led by two lights like lamps, illuminating the way before them. When they parted, each of them was accompanied by one of these lights until he came to his family.

This Hadīth tells about a manifest miracle that occurred to two of the Companions of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). Some versions of the Hadīth identify them as ‘Abbād ibn Bishr and Usayd ibn Hudayr (may Allah be pleased with both of them). These two noble Companions were with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) on a very dark night wherein a person would not easily find his way. Therefore, Allah honored them with a miracle; He caused a light similar to the light of a lamp to appear before them to illuminate their way. When the two Companions parted, each had his own light leading him to his home safe and secure.
Sulaymān ibn Surad (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I was sitting with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) when two men started to insult each other, and the face of one of them turned red and his jugular veins got swollen. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Verily, I know a word; if he said it, his rage would go away. If he said: I seek refuge with Allah from the devil, his rage would go away." They said to him: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Seek refuge with Allah from the devil." Thereupon he said: Am I mad?

Two men cursed and insulted each other in the presence of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), and the face of one of them turned red and the veins surrounding his neck became swollen. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: Verily, I know a word; if this angry man said it, his anger would go away. If he said: I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed devil. They said to him: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: Seek refuge with Allah from the devil. Thereupon he said: Am I mad? thinking that only the mad seek refuge with Allah from the devil.
Abu Dharr and Mu‘ādh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fear Allah wherever you are, follow a bad deed with a good deed and it will erase it, and treat people with good morals."

Fear Allah by obeying His commands and avoiding His prohibitions wherever you may be, follow a bad deed with a good one to expiate it and wipe out its bad effects from the heart and its penalty from your record of deeds, and treat people as you would like them to treat you.
An-Nawwās ibn Sim‘ān al-Ansāri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) about righteousness and sinfulness, and he said, "Righteousness is good morals, and sinfulness is what your heart is not at ease with, and you hate that people know about it."

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about righteousness and sinfulness so he said: The greatest aspect of righteousness is adopting good morals with Allah through piety and with people through the endurance of harm, avoidance of anger, having a cheerful face, speaking good words, maintaining ties, obedience, kindness, charity, kind treatment, and good companionship. As for sinfulness, it refers to suspicious matters that move and waver within the soul, the breast does not feel at ease with, the heart feels doubtful about and fearful of its being a sin, and one is not willing to show it to the elite, or the best and the most perfect among people given its ugliness. This is because the soul has a natural inclination to show people its good aspects, so when it hates making some of its acts known to people, then this is a sin that is devoid of goodness.
Abu Mas‘ūd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Verily, some of what reached people from the speech of the early prophets: If you feel no shame, then do whatever you wish."

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informed that among the teachings of the early prophets that were circulated among people and passed from one generation to another until reaching the early generation of this Ummah: Consider what you want to do and do it if it is not something to feel ashamed of; but leave it if it is something you feel ashamed of. Modesty prevents committing villainous deeds, and one who has no share of modesty will indulge in all types of immoral and evil deeds.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not envy one another, do not raise prices by overbidding against one another, do not hate one another, do not turn your backs on one another, and do not undercut one another in trade; and be, O slaves of Allah, our brothers. A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim; he does not wrong him, he does not fail him, and he does not despise him. Piety lies here," and he pointed to his chest three times. "It is enough evil for a person to look down upon his Muslim brother. All of a Muslim is inviolable to another Muslim: his blood, his property, and his honor."

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) advised the Muslim to be kind to his fellow Muslims and outlined some of the duties and etiquettes he is required to observe toward them, including the following: First advice: Do not envy one another by wishing others may lose the blessings they have. Second: Do not raise prices by overbidding against one another. By doing so, a person does not really want to buy the commodity, except to benefit the seller or harm the buyer. Third: Do not hate one another. It is the intention to cause harm, as opposed to love, unless hatred is for the sake of Allah Almighty, which is obligatory. Fourth: Do not turn your backs on each other, forsaking and abandoning one another. Fifth: Do not undercut one another in trade. It is when a person says to someone who bought a commodity: I have the like of it at a lower price or a higher-quality commodity at the same price. Then, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) gave comprehensive advice, saying: Be like brothers, by abandoning the aforementioned prohibitions and showing cordiality, kindness, compassion, gentleness, and cooperation in goodness, while having pure hearts and sincerity in all conditions. The following are among the requirements of this brotherliness: Not to wrong his Muslim brother or transgress against him. Not to leave his Muslim brother to be wronged, failing to support him in a situation where he can help him and remove the injustice practiced against him. Not to belittle him or look down upon him with contempt and disdain; this stems from arrogance in the heart. Then the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) pointed out three times that piety lies in the heart, and whoever has piety in his heart, which entails good morals and fear and heedfulness of Allah, will not belittle a Muslim. Indeed, it is enough for him, as an evil trait and reprehensible manner, to belittle his fellow Muslim, for this results from arrogance in his heart. Then the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) affirmed the aforementioned, saying that all of a Muslim is inviolable to another Muslim: his blood: to attack him by killing, injuring, beating him, or the like; his property: to take any of his properties unjustly; and his honor: to malign him or his lineage.
If someone intends to do a good deed but was prevented by a valid excuse, he shall gain the reward of his intention.

Variation of reward for good deeds is based on sincerity and following of the Prophet’s guidance. The more a person is sincere to Allah, and the keener he is on following the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him), the more perfect his worship will be, and consequently his reward will be bigger.

People differ with regards to their acts of worship according to their intentions. The intentions of some people have reached the ultimate level of sincerity (to Allah) and keenness in following the Sunnah (of the Messenger of Allah) with regard to doing good and righteous deeds, while the intentions of others are below that.

Love and contentment is measured by good deeds and intentions because they are the criteria for Allah’s acceptance of the servant; perhaps a small deed reaps great reward because of the intention behind it and perhaps a big deed reaps little reward because of the intention behind it
